What do S, A, B, and C mean here?

Tiers describe draft priority when a Flyer offers three random types — not permanent character value. How Many Dudes? has no bench: every pick consumes one of five unique slots for the whole run.

BandDraft priorityTypical role
STake unless it breaks your Family planCarry, economy, or backbone healer/tank that works with minimal Relics
AStrong with one Trinket or on-tag RelicSecondary carry, specialist healer, or tech enabler
BPlayable inside a themed buildNeeds Family stack or named Relics to catch S-tier output
CSkip in generic runsAbility contradicts five-type cap or needs unavailable duplicates

One team needs all four jobs

Every band assumes you still cover damage, taunt or block, healing or lifesteal, and economy or scaling. An S-tier Wizard does not help if the Flyer never offered a front line and you are facing 400 Bees.

Bands are about who fills those jobs fastest — the S-tier table is where most players should start reading.

Which Dudes are S-tier right now?

These types show up in the majority of community clears because their abilities trigger reliably without exotic Trinkets. Several appear in launch-week streams with minimal backseat coaching.

S-tier does not mean force every pick

Stacking three S-tier carries without a taunt is how Tier 2 Gorilla packs end runs. Take at most two from this table unless the third slot fixes defense.

A-tier picks often complete the triangle — damage plus one S-tier plus one enabler is the usual ladder into mid-game.

Who sits in A-tier — strong but setup-heavy?

A-tier Dudes win runs daily but want a boss Trinket or a named Relic before they match S-tier consistency. They are your second and third Flyer clicks, not autopicks over Knight or Cleric.

A-tier carries spike with Trinkets

Ninja and Agent jump a band when a boss drops ADHD, Taser, or Team Jersey. Check the trinkets guide before you skip an A-tier just because an S-tier damage dealer is flashing — sometimes the Trinket is the real carry.

Which B-tier Dudes need a Relic spine?

B-tier types are sidegrades until you commit to a Family theme. They are fine third or fourth picks inside mono-Fantasy, mono-Sci-Fi, or hybrid Action/Warrior routes.

B-tier is where Family guides matter

Three B-tier Fantasy Dudes plus on-tag Relics outperform a salad of S-tier tags with no shop synergy. Use the families guide to pick a spine before you force these picks.

Why are some Dudes C-tier on a five-type cap?

C-tier does not mean unusable — it means the ability text fights the roster rules or needs duplicates you cannot field. Save these for Daily Dude seeds, Ensemble experiments, or Relics that rewrite recruitment.

Daily and Ensemble can rewrite C-tier

Fixed Daily rosters and Ensemble pre-posts sometimes start you with two Regulars via rulesets or Relics not modeled here. Re-evaluate when patches or Ranch unlocks change starting teams — we note hotfixes in the tips page.

Family modifiers explain why the same Dude moves bands when you commit to a tag — next section.

How does Family change these ranks?

Six Families gate shop Relics. A B-tier Dude in a mono-Family run often outperforms an S-tier splash pick because the shop keeps feeding relevant modifiers.

Hybrid versus mono

Two-Family hybrids (Fantasy/Warrior, Undead/Sci-Fi) are launch-meta friendly: four tag slots still get partial Relic density without forcing a narrow Flyer. Full mono pays off in Tier 3 when shop size grows — see builds for templates.

Do picks change from early runs to late bosses?

Yes. Early Tier 1 rewards taunt plus one AOE carry; late Tier 3 and god fights reward stored damage, execute thresholds, and revive loops.

Do not reroll your identity mid-run

If you started Action/cleave, finish Action/cleave. Pivoting Families mid-run starves Relic shops. Use early picks for flexible A-tier (Agent, Ghost) and late boss Trinkets to specialize.

Methodology for these bands is below if you want to challenge a placement.

How was this tier list built?

Four axes, weighted toward stable Tier 1–2 clears rather than meme one-shots. No fabricated DPS percentages — launch window only.

AxisMeasuresWeight
Standalone valueAbility works with zero boss TrinketsHigh
Relic compatibilityNamed Relics on Dudex match the typeHigh
Role coverageTaunt, heal, DPS, or economy in one slotMedium
Five-type ruleAbility text respects unique roster capMedium

Sources and limits

Placements cross-check Dudex tooltips, Butterscotch's official beginner post, and launch-week community runs (including Flyer draft and Pirate cleave footage). Skeledude summons, patch buffs, and mobile-only balance can move rows — treat C-tier and B-tier as the most volatile.

What this list is not

Not a Relic tier list — see relics. Not a Daily Dude seed solver. Not a Trinket kill-order chart — see enemies. Use tiers as draft tiebreakers inside a Family plan, not as gospel.

How Many Dudes? tier list FAQ

What is the best Dude in How Many Dudes?

No single best — Wizard and Manager scale hardest, but Cleric or Knight stabilize runs faster. Pick based on missing role, not hype.

Why is Regular Dude ranked low?

Mob Mentality needs multiple Regular Dudes, but rosters cap at five unique types — so the passive barely activates in normal runs.

Does Pirate Dude belong in S-tier?

Yes for general runs: opening taunt, Rum evasion, and cleave Relic synergy show up consistently in launch clears.

Are tiers the same on mobile?

Same roster at launch. Patch notes may diverge later; we update when Butterscotch ships balance changes.

Should I force mono-Family for S-tier?

Mono improves shop Relics; hybrid is safer for beginners. See families guide.

Where is the full Dude list?

All dudes with Family tags and ability summaries.

What should I read next?

Best builds to turn tiers into five-Dude teams, then trinkets for boss order.
